Introduction
The idea of praying the Traditional Rosary is to meditate on each mystery while repeating ten Hail Marys. I am very distractible, so I would have to focus on the Hail Marys, which would not allow me to meditate on the mystery, and if I focused on the mystery, I would get off track with the Hail Marys. I decided to develop a rosary that allows silent meditation on each mystery for as long as desired, and between each mystery incorporated prayers of surrender
that are focused on surrendering every moment of our lives to God just as Mary did. Because there is less repetition, I find it easier to pray each prayer more slowly and thoughtfully.
As always you should let the Lord lead you in how you pray. You can pray the Surrender Rosary below, or you can adjust it to suit your own prayer needs. The important thing is to find a time and location to fully focus on the Lord without any distractions. Yes – that means you should turn off your phone!
I typically pray each set of mysteries once per week:
Monday – Joyful Wednesday – Luminous Friday – Sorrowful Sunday – Glorious

The Surrender Rosary
Praise you Father; Thank you Jesus; Guide me Holy Spirit!
Our Father...
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Blessed Mary, mother of our Lord Jesus Christ and our mother by our adoption into the Holy Family, pray for us, that we might be:
- As surrendered to God as you were when you spoke your “fiat”.
- As compassionate as you were when you immediately undertook a difficult journey to help your cousin Elizabeth, even though you were pregnant with Jesus yourself.
- As strong as you were when you traveled to Bethlehem when you were about to give birth.
- As humble as you were when you gave birth to Jesus in a lowly stable.
- As obedient as you were when your husband Joseph told you the family needed to leave immediately for Egypt.
- As unselfish as you were when you encouraged your Son Jesus to do His first miracle at the wedding at Cana, even though you knew it meant He would be leaving home to start His ministry.
- As faithful as you were as you stood at the foot of the cross on which your Son had been hung.
- As encouraging as you were to the disciples as you waited together in prayer for the Holy Spirit God had promised to send to all believers.
I look forward to the wonderful day when I will join you in glorifying our Lord Jesus Christ for all eternity. Amen
Meditation on First Mystery - List of the Mysteries
Praise you Father; Thank you Jesus; Empty us; Cleanse us Holy Spirit, of anything that is not of You.
Prayer of Brother Klaus (St. Nicholas of Flue)
My Lord and my God, take from me everything that distances me from you.
My Lord and my God, give me everything that brings me closer to you.
My Lord and my God, detach me from myself to give my all to you.
Meditation on Second Mystery - List of the Mysteries
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us believers that like you we might joyfully surrender every waking moment to God our Father, until the glorious moment He calls us home to Heaven. Amen
Prayer of St. Augustine
Breathe in us, O Holy Spirit, that our thoughts may all be holy.
Act in us, O Holy Spirit, that our work too may be holy.
Draw our hearts, O Holy Spirit, that we love but what is holy.
Strengthen us, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.
Guide us then, O Holy Spirit, that we always may be holy.
Meditation on Third Mystery - List of the Mysteries
Praise you Father; Thank you Jesus; Fill us; Guide us; Make us Humble, Holy, Wise, Bold and Compassionate Holy Spirit.
Suscipe Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola
Take, O Lord, and receive our entire liberty, our memory, our understanding and our whole will. All that we are and all that we possess You have given us: We surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will. Give us only Your love and Your grace; with these we will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more.
Meditation on Fourth Mystery - List of the Mysteries
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us believers that like you we might joyfully surrender every waking moment to God our Father, until the glorious moment He calls us home to Heaven. Amen
Prayer of Archbishop Fulton Sheen – “Transubstantiate Me”
Here is my body. Take it. Here is my blood. Take it. Here is my soul, my will, my energy, my strength, my property, my wealth—all that I have. It is yours. Take it! Consecrate it! Offer it with yourself to the heavenly Father…Consecrate these trials of my life, which would go unrewarded unless united with You. Transubstantiate me so that like bread which is now your Body and wine which is now your Blood, I too may be wholly yours…My station in life, my routine duties, my work, my family—all these are but the species of my life which may remain unchanged; but the substance of my life, my soul, my mind, my will, my heart—transubstantiate them, transform them wholly into your service, so that through me all may know how sweet is the love of Christ. Amen
Meditation on Fifth Mystery - List of the Mysteries
Praise you Father, Thank you Jesus, Strengthen us; Protect us; Unify us and fill us with the joyful fire of your merciful love Holy Spirit.
Prayer of St. John Henry Newman
Dear Jesus, help us to spread Your fragrance everywhere we go.
Flood our souls with Your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess our whole being so utterly,
That our life may only be a radiance of Yours.
Shine through us, and be so in us,
That every soul we come in contact with may feel Your presence in our souls.
Let them look up and see no longer us but only Jesus!
Stay with us, and then we shall begin to shine as You shine;
So to shine as to be a light to others.
The light O Jesus will be all from You, none of it will be ours.
It will be You, shining on others through us.
Let us thus praise You without preaching, not by words but by our example,
By the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do,
The evident fullness of the love our heart bears from You. Amen
Praise you Father; Thank you Jesus; Make me a feather on your breath Holy Spirit, that I may be Christ’s light to my community, and a fountain of His living water for a parched and dying world!
