Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and do not forget all his benefits.
Psalm 103:2
If I proclaim the gospel, this gives me no ground for boasting,
for an obligation is laid on me, and woe to me if I do not proclaim the gospel!

"Have you been born again?"
This question has stumped many Christians, especially Catholics. Here is the definitive answer, taken directly from the Catechism of the Catholic Church with only two changes:
- It is written in the first person singular, giving it a much greater personal impact.
- Important points have been simplified and grouped together for easier comprehension and retention.

I am a born again Catholic - I was purified in Baptism from all sins and made a new creature as an adopted child of God and a partaker of the divine nature as a member of Christ—a co-heir with him and a temple of the Holy Spirit. I have been given the sanctifying grace of justification enabling me to believe in God, to hope in God, and to love God through the theological virtues. I was also given the power to live and act under the prompting of the Holy Spirit through the gifts of the Holy Spirit—allowing me to grow in goodness through the moral virtues.
Baptism incorporated me into the Church as a member of the Body of Christ, one with the People of God of the New Covenant, which transcends all the natural or human limits of nations, cultures, races, and sexes. I became a living stone to be built with other Christians into a spiritual house. By Baptism I share in the priesthood of Christ and in his prophetic and royal mission. By becoming a member of the Church, I no longer belong to myself, but to Him who died and rose for us. I am now called to be subject to others, to serve them in the communion of the Church, and to obey and submit to the Church’s leaders, holding them in respect and affection. As a member of the Body of Christ, the Church, I enjoy the right to receive the sacraments, to be nourished with the Word of God and to be sustained by the other spiritual helps of the Church. Reborn as a child of God, I bear the responsibility to profess before others the faith I have received from God through the Church, and to participate in the apostolic and missionary activity of the People of God.
In Confirmation I received a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit like that granted to the apostles on the day of Pentecost that brought me an increase and deepening of baptismal grace. I have been rooted more deeply in the divine filiation that makes us cry, “Abba! Father!” I have been united more firmly to Christ, and have received gifts of the Holy Spirit that help me to serve others and render my bond with the Church more perfect (Charisms). I have been given a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as a true witness of Christ by confessing the name of Christ boldly and never feeling any shame in the Cross.
I have received the spiritual seals of wisdom and understanding, of right judgment and courage, of knowledge and reverence, and of holy fear in God’s presence. Christ the Lord confirmed me and placed his pledge, the Spirit, in my heart, perfecting me as a member of the common priesthood of the faithful, giving me the power to profess faith in Christ publicly and preparing me to assume the role of disciple and witness to Christ, both within the ecclesial community and in temporal affairs.
My regular participation in Communion with the Body and Blood of Christ continues to increase my union with the Lord, forgives my venial sins and preserves me from grave sins, strengthening the bonds of charity between myself and Christ, and reinforcing the unity of the Church as the Mystical Body of Christ. Regular participation in Reconciliation forgives any sins I commit, including grave sins, reconciles me with God and with His Church, and increases my spiritual strength.
