Daily Devotional
Jesus Listens - Sarah Young
This book has 365 short prayers from Sarah's personal devotional time. Each prayer is based on three or four Bible verses, and the message of each verse is woven into the prayer in italics, so it is an excellent example of Praying God's Word. Sarah is very open about sharing her personal struggles, which are common to all Christians, and every prayer is a prayer of surrender to God. These prayers are such a wonderful way to grow spiritually by praying important scriptures back to God, after I finish all 365 prayers I plan to continue praying with this book every morning.

The Imitation of Christ – Thomas à Kempis
The Imitation of Christ is regarded as the most important devotional work in Catholic Christianity. It was an early influence on the spirituality of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, who used it in her prayer life and in her own writings, which then influenced Catholic spirituality as a whole. Others who were influenced by it include St. Thomas More, St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Francis de Sales, and Thomas Merton.
The Soul of the Apostolate – Jean-Baptiste Chautard, Cistercian Abbot
In the Catholic and Anglican churches, “ministry” pertains to the sacraments or liturgical activity. Work done by laity in the church or the community is referred to as an “apostolate”. The Soul of the Apostolate guides us in how to become an instrument and channel of God’s grace through prayer, meditation, and the cultivation of an interior life anchored in Christ. “If you desire that God should bless your apostolate and make it fruitful…I can offer you no better guide than The Soul of the Apostolate…and have made it my bedside book.” (Pope Pius X )
