"Eyes on God!"
(St. Thérèse of Lisieux)
These short prayers help us to set our hearts on things above,
where Christ is seated at the right hand of God,
and to set our minds on things above, not on earthly things;
reminding us that we have died, and that our lives are now hidden with Christ in God.
(Col 3:1-3)
Waking Up With God
Pray this simple prayer when you first wake up
to put God in the driver's seat throughout the day:
Guide me throughout this day Lord; Guide me every step of the way!
Praising God in the Morning
If you have a hard time getting going in the morning,
this prayer from the Psalms is a great way to get motivated:
It is good to praise the Lord, proclaiming His love in the morning!
In the morning you hear us, O Lord; in the morning we offer you our prayer.
My heart is ready, O God; I will awake and greet the dawn!
I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to You among the nations.
For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens;
your faithfulness extends to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens.
Let your glory be over all the earth,
and fill us with the joyful fire of your merciful love in the morning.
Praying to Totally Rely on God
Once you are fully awake, this prayer helps to focus totally on God,
seeking to rely on Him for everything you do:
This day I call on You my Lord:
Your will to be my guide
Your eye to be my sight
Your Word to be my speech
Your hand to be my support
Your love to be my strength
Your path to be my way
Getting Up
As you stand up, pray this short prayer
to put God in the driver's seat throughout the day:
Guide me throughout this day Lord;
Guide me every step of the way!
Quiet Time
It's really important to start the day by spending some quality time with God.
After you make tea or coffee, find a quiet place to read, meditate and pray.
The Magnificat publication provides all the day's scriptures, plus
selections from the Liturgy of the Hours and additional material
that provides insights into the day's readings.
Prayers
It's good to start your prayer time with a prayer of surrender to God
like the The Surrender Trilogy or one of the Prayers of Surrender,
followed by prayers for the Church, your Diocese, Parish,
family, and everyone else on your prayer list.

Praying Throughout the Day
At various times during the day, such as after saying grace before eating,
pray the first sentence of the Surrender Trilogy to continue
stating your trust in Christ and thanks for His unceasing mercy:
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, I trust in You;
Thank you for having mercy on me – a sinner!
Praying Continually
God's Word also tells us to “pray continually”, praising God, giving thanks to Jesus
and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit at every moment and in every situation:
Praise You Father; Thank You Jesus; Guide Me Holy Spirit!
Whenever you realize you are not praying, start praying again—it’s that simple!
This prayer is especially helpful during difficult situations when you don’t have time
to say a more specific prayer, or perhaps don’t even know what to pray!
